Lego Star Wars Fever

For Christmas we got the Lego Star Wars Wii game. We love it and have been playing it ever since. The kids really love it and have learned how to play it too. Since the kids love it so much we decided that it was time to show them the real Star Wars movies. We started with Episode I and the kids loved it. They kept commenting on how it looked or didn't look like the Wii game and they were so excited. We loved hearing their comments and their enjoyment of the movie. Michael loves Jango Fett and was disappointed to find that he wasn't in the first movie. Neils told him that Jango is in the second movie and Michael has been begging us ever since to watch it.

A while ago, as we were going through boxes after our move, Neils found a lego Star Wars figure that he had gotten when he was younger. The kids liked it but didn't really know what it was. When we played the game, the kids remembered that they have one of the guys and immediately went and found QuiGon Jinn. Michael has been playing with it ever since. I did a little looking on line and found a couple of Lego storm troopers for him and Karen as well. Karen also found a little Minnie Mouse figure that is dressed up as Queen Amidala. They are discovering and loving everything Star Wars lately. Karen even came home the other day with a Star Wars book from her school library. Neils is in heaven that his kids are becoming Star Wars geeks like we are. We are so proud!

Here is Michael with his toys and the game.

Mountain Con Weekend Getaway

We had a great weekend getaway. We stayed at the Hilton in Layton where the convention center was. It was a beautiful hotel with really nice furnishings. Anyway, the convention center was really nice and big too. Not a lot of big name stars there, but we had a lot of friends there that we've seen at previous cons here and in Denver. We had a lot of fun socializing and going to workshops and just playing. We saw a bunch of people dressed up in everything. People from Star Trek, Star Wars, Lost in Space, Ghost Rider, Snow White, Arabs, Romans, Scottish, Dr. Who, Green Lantern, and Batman. Here are some pictures of the costumes we saw.

Mountain Con

We are gearing up for our local Sci-Fi convention. For non-geeks that means science fiction groupies dressing up and getting together to see people who starred (or were minor characters) on such science fiction themed TV shows or movies such as Star Trek, Star Wars and anything even remotely related like Pirates of the Caribbean. My husband's oldest brother has been heavily involved in the organization of the local convention for the past 4 years and we go to support him and to enjoy ourselves for a couple days.

Here's a couple pictures from our adventures last year. We'll post more after the convention this weekend.

Sick

It totally sucks being sick. I hate just laying in bed and not being able to do anything. Some kind of bug got me. I've had a horrible headache and I'm dizzy and nauseous and tired and whenever I stand up, it's so much worse. I've had the headache all week but it got worse yesterday late afternoon and just carried over into today. Neils has been wonderful to stay home and take care of the kids. It was especially great since I slept til nearly 1:00 pm today and I think it helped.

One good thing is that I've been able to catch up on all my shows that I've recorded on DVR. My favorite show has started airing a new season. EUREKA! It's on again and I love it just as much as ever. And a Doctor Who marathon was on today and I love the Doctor Who series especially the second season with Rose and the Doctor. But this last season, I have to say, was the best of all of them. I especially loved how they brought all the characters (and dr who spin off characters) into the last three episodes. It was amazing! Gotta love it.
