So we've decided that it is time to replace our carpet. Our carpet is nearly 10 years old and it is sadly in need of being replaced. We thought that maybe people might want to choose the carpet color when they bought the house, but it turns out it is the biggest thing (next to a second bathroom) that people don't like and turn them off of our house. So we decided to do it for them (and also for us incase we stay). Now comes the fun part of getting bids, choosing carpet, getting a good deal and running all over town trying to do this. Lots of advice has helped us and we are currently getting bids from different places like Lowes, Home Depot, RC Willey, Garden Gate, and possibly others. Any suggestions? We want it done pretty quick and not too expensive.
So many different colors and so many different textures and styles it's getting confusing, but I think I like a short frieze type carpet best with variegated beige and brown colors. But, plush is nice too. Leave a note and let me know if you prefer plush (1st pic) or frieze (2nd pic) so that I

deffenatly like the 2nd. Carpet that has multiple colors show less dirt.
definately the second that's what all the new homes are using and is popular with buyers. How fun!! Let me know where you get cheap prices we need new carpet too!
Jen, get a pretty brown that is multi-textured and multi-hewed. Something that is a neutral warm color, but similar in texture to the second swatch. It will not only hide traffic, but be inviting and homey.

Don't get the second swatch! You will hate it with the kids and spills! Get something similar to it just darker, it will look better longer and you will be much happier in the long run!
The second is much more common and popular. Cindy and I both have it, and several in my neighborhood have it. It sucks though, because it is so light, it gets much dirtier much faster. Just be prepared. And don't go to the Carpet Giant! Good luck.
The shaggy style like the second swatch is more popular/trendier. But deffinitely go with a bit darker multi color shade. We found ok deals at Steve Ogden's Carpet (free labor, and they would through in free pad too for 3.99/sq.ft). We are probably going to use Parker Thomas Flooring in Herriman. They had great prices, but it will take a little while to get on his work schedule - he's very busy. He is sending us large samples by UPS to see in our home with our paint/furniture colors and lighting situations. (The one we picked is about $38/sq.yd. including labor and pad - compared to the same one at Home Depot for $45/yd not including pad or labor)
